How Far in Advance Should You Book Wedding Hair and Makeup?

Wedding hair and makeup is one of the first vendors to book out, especially for peak-season Saturdays. This is a simple timeline for securing your artist and timing your trial so you are not left scrambling.

9 to 12 months out: book the artist

For a Saturday wedding from October to April, the best-known Adelaide artists are reserved close to a year ahead. As soon as your date and venue are locked, start matching with artists, because the calendar, not the budget, is usually the constraint.

Mid-week or off-peak dates give you more room, and you can often secure an artist closer in.

4 to 8 weeks out: the trial

Hold your trial once the dress is chosen and your hair is at wedding length, so the look you approve matches the day. Earlier than that and your hair or colour may still change.

Let us match you with the right people

Tell us your date and bridal party size and we'll match you with up to 3 vetted Adelaide hair and makeup artists. Free, no obligation.

The week of: confirm the run sheet

Confirm the start time, the getting-ready address, the party size and the running order. For a large party or an early ceremony, this is where a second artist earns its place.

It is also a good moment to line up the rest of your morning, like your Adelaide wedding florist, so the bouquet arrives while hair and makeup is still in progress for the photos.

FAQ

Questions, answered

Not always. While peak Saturdays book out a year ahead, cancellations happen and mid-week or off-peak dates have more availability. It is always worth asking, and we can match you with artists who have your date free.

Allow roughly 45 minutes per person per service, with the bride last. A large party or an early ceremony may need a pre-dawn start or a second artist. Your artist will set the run sheet once they know the details.
